CURLING IRON SPRING REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS

Measure your broken spring like the picture on the right to get the correct size.

Match your broken spring to one of the SPRINGS SHOWN HERE.

Look at the CURLING IRON MODELS page to see which spring has been tested and worked for our customers.

Springs 1002, 1003, 1006 & 1007 are made of a thicker metal and are stiffer.

Springs 1001, 1004, 1005, 1008, 1009, 1010, 1011 & 1012 are made of a thinner metal and are more flexible.

It's a good idea to order more that one spring because they will continue to break due to metal fatigue.

We have simple step by step instructions for replacing your spring shown below.

MOST CURLING IRONS - STEP BY STEP SPRING INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

1. Unplug the curling iron.

2. Remove the curling iron stand by grasping one side of the stand and pulling outward and down under the iron; causing the stand to release. Careful not to bend the stand any further than necessary.

3. Remove the two small side screws from the curling iron handle with a philips #1 screwdriver. One screw for each side. Some curling irons have retaining pins that pop out as shown in the video above. Once they are removed the tensioner handle will fall off the iron.

4. Remove the broken spring by loosening the screw holding the clip under the tension handle. No need to remove the screw.

5. Install the new replacement spring by slipping the spring under the clip. You may have to squeeze the spring's two wires together to fit into the clip. Tighten the screw down on the clip.

6. Re-attach the handle to the barrel and install the side screws or retaining pins. The handle will feel stiff when attaching; this is normal.

7. Re-attach the curling iron stand.

We are not responsible for damage to your curling iron or injury to yourself by purchasing our springs or following our spring replacement instructions.

Spring & Lever Repair Guide

Tools Needed
  • 1 small Phillips screwdriver
  • 1 medium Phillips screwdriver
  • 1 needle-nose pliers

Safety First
  • Unplug the curling iron and allow it to cool completely before starting.

Step 1: Remove Heating Element Screws
Using the

  • Two screws on each side of the lever
  • One screw on the opposite side of the lever

Step 2: Slide Heating Element Forward
Gently pull the heating element forward
only as far as needed to expose the pin that holds the lever—approximately ½ inch.
  • Do not pull it out farther than necessary
  • Try to keep the element aligned on the exposed black guide

Step 3: Remove Lever Pin
Using the
needle-nose pliers, carefully push or pull out the pin that secures the lever.

Step 4: Remove Old Spring
With the
medium Phillips screwdriver, loosen (do not remove) the clamp holding the spring.
  • Remove any remaining pieces of the old spring before installing the replacement.

Step 5: Install New Spring
Position the new spring correctly and tighten the clamp securely.

Step 6: Reinstall Lever
Reinstall the lever by pushing the pin through the lever and the body.
  • Ensure the pin is seated evenly on both sides.

Step 7: Reassemble
Slide the heating element back into position and reinstall the
three screws removed in Step 1.

Final Check
Test the lever to confirm smooth operation.
If everything moves correctly, the repair is complete.
